The Hormone Of Joy: How To Increase Serotonin?

There are different joys. There is joy that is serene and bright, which gives us a clear happiness, but there is a burst of joy, unrestrained, full of pleasure and euphoria.

So, these two different joys have two different hormones. Unrestrained euphoria and joy - hormone dopamine. Serene joy and luminous joy- hormone serotonin.
To explain: serotonin is not primarily a hormone, but a neurotransmitter in the brain, that is, a substance that transmits impulses between the brain and the nerve cells. It converts into a hormone when it enters the bloodstream.

Where is serotonin?

Serotonin is found in many internal organs (stomach, muscle, cardiovascular system, etc.), but a large part of it is in the brain, where it affects the cellular function and transmits information from one to the other part of the brain.
Serotonin regulates the work of cells responsible for mood, memory, social behavior, sexual desire, work ability, concentration, etc. If there is a lack of serotonin in the brain, the symptoms are: bad mood, increased anxiety, fatigue, absentmindedness, lack of interest in the opposite sex, depression, including the most severe forms.
The lack of serotonin is also responsible for those cases in which we cannot get rid of the object of worship from our head, or, alternatively, we cannot free ourselves from obsessive or intimidating thoughts.
Psychologists are very useful to know that not all psychological problems are dealt with by talking, sometimes the client has to fix internal chemistry. In fact, if a serotonin level is elevated to a person, depression will disappear. It will stop causing unpleasant experiences, and the place of the problem quickly comes good mood, joy of life, inflow of strength and bodily activity, interest in the opposite sex. In this way, we can say that serotonin is an antidepressant, which has eliminated depression and made man's life happy and happy.

How to increase serotonin levels?

The simplest and most accessible way is to be as much as possible in the light, under bright sunlight, or at least in the home to make better lighting. If a couple of extra bulbs will removed from your depressed thoughts - then that's worth it.

Another, cheaper way - you should start to look after your position. Spinal cord and negligent posture causes a reduction in serotonin levels and almost automatically causes a feeling of shame and some feelings of guilt. Proper posture causes increased levels of serotonin, increases self-confidence and mood.
The third way to increase serotonin levels - is to use those products that will produce serotonin in your diet. Interestingly, serotonin as such in the product does not exist. The products contain the second amino acid tryptophan, from which the organism produces serotonin.
The recorder containing tryptophan is a hard cheese. A little less tryptophan contains cream cheese. Followed by flesh, eggs, lentils. Also, a large amount of tryptophan is found in mushrooms, beans, cheese, pros and buckwheat.
Likewise, if your serotonin level is low, you need vitamins from the B complex. They are found in liver, buckwheat, oats, beans and green salads. You also need products that contain magnesium (it also stimulates the production of serotonin). These are: rice, dried plums, dried apricots, bran, algae. To raise serotonin levels, eat bananas, melons, figs, pumpkins, oranges.

In addition to proper nutrition, there are other sources of serotonin.

To increase serotonin, will help physical activity. Separate at least 20 minutes a day to have fun or practice any sport (running, swimming, dancing, etc.), and you'll soon get a better mood and feel better. If you cannot do sports - at least take a walks.
Physical activity is supplemented with good sleep: serotonin production is necessary. Fresh air (and once more - the sun) also helps to increase serotonin levels. Communicate more with friends and people who are friendly to you, do the work you love or hobbies, listen to your favorite music, give yourself more pleasant moments - this will certainly help.
Important! The causative - consequent connection between the amount of serotonin in the body and mood is "bi - directional". If the level of this substance increases, a good mood is created; if a good mood appears - serotonin begins to produce.
