In the autumn days, rainy and gloomy, we are tempted to sneak under the blanket and stay at home. For those days, we are more inclined to try to improve our mood with food.
Exhaustion, fatigue, energy loss, absurdity, apathy ... A
large number of people feel this way at the beginning of the autumn, and they
explain this by chronic fatigue, by changing time or by something else.
However, behind all these symptoms usually hides seasonal depression.
According to experts, it is a type of affective disorder. In
people who suffer from seasonal depression in the brain, serotonin levels, a
hormone of happiness, drops. Such situations also occur when we are overworked
or under stress.
Depression is characterized by distorted thinking about
yourself and other people. Most often, in this state, we see ourselves as
helpless, less valuable, insecure, and lack of self-confidence. We perceive the
world as a terrible place in which only trouble is lurking.
As research shows, when the mood slowly begins to be gloomy,
light is of great help. Under the influence of light, the organism produces the
hormone of happiness endorphin, which leads to an improvement in mood.
It is therefore important every day for 20 minutes between
11 a.m. and 15 p.m. to go out and think about nice things. And when autumn days
are cloudy, sunlight in nature is a real cure for a good mood.
Increase the intake of vitamin D and enter more fish in the
diet.
Lighted rooms also positively affect your mood. So remove
the curtains and lift the blinds. In the evening before bedtime leave the
blinds raised, so the next day you wake up by the daylight.
You do not have to deal with world-class sports - movement
is a real cure for autumn reluctance. Every physical activity improves the
mental state.
Think of your hobbies and spend some time dealing with that
activity, because creative work combined with dynamic music has a beneficial
effect on your mood.
Go at least once a week to a place where the air is good and
breathe fresh air. It is very important and to exhale. Imagine vividly that
during each exhalation sadness goes out, and when you inhale a fresh air you’re
entering the freshness and strength.
Also, conversation and socializing with people help to deter
negative thoughts. So, it's important to have a look at your friends, go out in
the company, and surround yourself with the people who are dear to you.
And of course, laugh. The laugh chases all bad thoughts and
negative energy.
